The splendid stained-glass windows of the basilica of Our Lady of Peace at Yamoussoukro – 7 October 2016
We have already had occasion to tell you about the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary Jubilee celebrated, from 7 to 8 October 2016, in the basilica of Our Lady of Peace at Yamoussoukro. It was a really special moment: in the presence of bro. Bruno CADORÉ and brothers from numerous African countries, the patron of the Order of Preachers was honoured with both splendour and simplicity, throughout a night of prayer and teaching.
The Promoter General of the Rosary took advantage of this Jubilee event to spend a few days in Ivory Coast. After France, this West African country has the largest number of Rosary Team members! It would have been a great pity not to have met them and there were no shortage of opportunities.
Certainly at Yamoussoukro the Rosary team members made up the bulk of the assembly, but we were gathered to celebrate together. Then, two days later, at the Saint Dominic convent of Abidjan, a meeting was organised to talk about the Rosary and, more particularly, about the Teams, evoking the fundamentals of this flourishing movement in Ivory Coast.

For their part, the Dominican brothers did not remain idle! The student brothers met again with the Promoter on 10 October for another meeting. This time, it was of course to talk about the Rosary, but setting it back in the context of the Order’s mission and a global vision of what constitutes our Dominican life.
These meetings also provided the occasion to obtain the texts of the Rosary prayers, in particular in Ewe and Bron. These two African languages, now available on the Rosarium site, bring the total number of languages to 70… and we won’t stop in mid flow, so that the Lord will be prayed and announced, through Mary, in all the languages of the earth!
